The Tivoli, the 1860s brewery that is now the Auraria Campus student union, and its surrounding quad, filmed and photographed from the air across three flight days in 2019, including an outdoor event on the lawn. Every flight was covered by a campus drone request signed by the requester, Campus Police and Event Services.

Scope & deliverables.

Capture

  • Aircraft and sensor: DJI Phantom 4 Pro (named "Phantom 4 Pro Plus" on the authorizations; FC6310 camera, 1-inch 20 MP RGB), firmware v01.07.1641.
  • 19 May 2019, 12:00–15:19 local: 1,191 stills (5472 × 3648 and 4096 × 2160) at a median 28 m above takeoff, 267 nadir and 924 oblique, imagery only, no map product was made.
  • 29–31 August 2019: three authorized video flights (09:00–11:00, 09:00–11:00, 17:00–18:00), 20 raw 4K clips.
  • 7 September 2019, 08:07–09:10 local: 25 stills (5472 × 3078) at 7–88 m above takeoff and the main video set.
  • Authorizations: eight campus flight requests digitally signed 27 August 2019 (requester, Auraria Campus Police, Event Services) for the Tivoli, 5th St Garage, 7th St Classroom, Arts Building, St. Cajetan's and Regency Athletic Complex flights; each names the aircraft, $1,000,000 hull and liability coverage, the pilot's Part 107 and Part 61 credentials, a weather stand-down rule (no flight in precipitation, visibility under 3 statute miles, ceilings under 3,000 ft, or wind over 20 mph), no flight over pedestrians, and two named visual observers.
  • Conditions: daylight VFR, low wind, good visibility (operator's record).

Deliverables

  • 41 edited 4K clips (MP4, 2720 × 1530 export, 59.94 fps, 3–7 s each) and 32 raw MP4 clips.
  • 25 JPG and 22 PNG stills.
  • Formats: MP4 (H.264), JPG, PNG.

Cadence

Three flight days in 2019 (May, August, September) under one authorization series; one-off as a project.

Method boundary

Aerial video and photography only. Nothing in this project is a map or a measurement: the images carry the aircraft's own position tags and nothing more. The material is suitable for communications, event coverage and a visual record of the buildings and grounds. Anything requiring measured positions or professional responsibility is routed through a licensed Professional Land Surveyor.
