A contract livestock-gathering operator's temporary corral complex in Lincoln County, Nevada, portable panel pens and alleys, a loading area, stock trailers and hay staging beside a ranch building, mapped in one 20-minute flight the morning before the gather was filmed (see the aerial video profile). The map gives the operator a scaled top-down record of the pen layout and the surrounding ground.

Scope & deliverables.

Capture

  • Aircraft and sensor: DJI Phantom 4 Pro (FC6310, 1-inch 20 MP RGB, 8.8 mm), firmware v01.07.1641.
  • Date and window: 27 January 2020, 11:36–11:56 local.
  • Images: 951 captured; 489 used in the processing project, 489 of 489 calibrated (100%).
  • Flight: grid at 45.7 m above takeoff (45.4–45.9 m across all frames) with the camera pitched 70° down, an oblique grid, no nadir frames. ISO 400, 1/800–1/1600 s.
  • Overlap: image spacing in the processing log (9.0 m along track, 5.1 m between lines, 65.7 × 43.8 m footprint) works out to roughly 79% forward and 92% side overlap.
  • Georeferencing: on-board geotags only, WGS 84 / UTM zone 11N (EPSG:32611). No ground control.
  • Conditions: winter, clear; daylight VFR with low wind and good visibility (operator's record).

Deliverables

Delivered to the operator (operator's record): the DSM, the bare-earth DTM, the contour PDF, the point cloud, the textured mesh, the 3D PDF and the quality report. The orthomosaic was produced but is not on the delivered list. On the archive the project's Deliverable folder is empty and the products sit in the processing tree.

- Orthomosaic GeoTIFF, 4-band RGBA, 1.2 cm/px, 25,703 × 20,773 px, 954 MB, plus 31 tiles. - DSM GeoTIFF float32 at 1.2 cm/px (480 MB) and a 6 cm downsampled DSM (85 MB). - Bare-earth DTM GeoTIFF (the only DTM in the archive) with mask tiles. - Contour PDF (10 m interval, 100 cm resolution setting). - Densified point cloud in LAS, LAZ, PLY and XYZ. - Textured mesh (OBJ, FBX) and a 3D PDF. - Pix4D quality report PDF (8 pages): 1.20 cm GSD, 7.03 ha / 17.4 acres. Processed 27 July 2020.

Cadence

One-off mapping flight inside a recurring documentation relationship (the same operator's gathers were filmed at seven sites in 2019–2020).

Method boundary

RGB photogrammetry georeferenced from the aircraft's geotags. The orthomosaic, DSM and DTM are internally consistent and suitable for a scaled site record, pen-layout planning, distances between features, and before/after comparison. Heights and absolute positions are not tied to ground control and the elevation models are not suitable for drainage design, earthwork quantities, or anything that carries professional responsibility. That work is routed through a licensed Professional Land Surveyor.

How accuracy was held.

Produced to a documented RGB photogrammetry workflow.

  • Constant-height oblique grid with high overlap, every frame calibrated; mean reprojection error 0.67 px in the report (internal block fit).
  • No control points were placed; geotag positioning accepted as-is. No independent checkpoints exist.
  • Produced to a documented RGB photogrammetry workflow; not tested to an ASPRS accuracy class.

Delivery commitments.

Standard-scope deliverables are typically available in the portal within 24 hours of flight; larger, survey-tested, or multisensor scopes receive quoted timeline.
Free reprocessing, revision, and re-delivery for the life of the project, within original scope.
Data is processed in the field and checked for completeness before demobilization (coverage, overlap, control residuals); final validation follows the stated delivery method.
